What is GApps and why we use it?

On the websites which provide algorithms and technique for Android device running the word GApps is pretty often. Meeting Gapps one tries to find out what it is, how to use it and whether it is worth to download it. So, what GApps is? For convenient using internet recourses Google company provide some apps and services like Google Play Store, Google+, Google Books, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube and others,which are known very well. Mostly they are called Google Apps but specialists shorten it to GApps. Usually these services come preinstalled on Android devices as a part of Google Software. However some of China made devices are exception. You will not find the preinstalled GApps on MIUI or LineageOS, for example. One can install the apps in question from the custom recovery menu manually.

Where to find them? Usually it is installed from the Open GApps Project. Some use the alternatives, for instance, TK GApps with XDA, which updates are quite often.

How to install GApps?

We suggest a simple method. It requires Open GApps App. One can download it from the official Open GApps site. The method is as follows:

  1. Download and install Open GApps App on your device;

     

  2. Open the installed app and select wanted GApps. Make sure you know your OS Android version;

     

  3. Downloaded GApps do install from Recovery.

That’s it! It is very easy and safe way. It gives you lots of flexibility to use new Google-branded apps.
